Most of us, I am sure, are familiar with Tag Clouds. But do they offer any real value? Wordle is just one example of a number of tools available on the Web for analyzing text for the most frequently-used words and presenting the results as a Tag Cloud.
The example above is Wordle’s analysis of Barak Obama’s inauguration speech. Is it a useful indicator of his priorities? Would we be better off reading the transcript in its entirety? Do we have the time? Is this the public face of ‘people’s KO’?
